Tech Provider, Business Partner and Solution Partner
Which role Wappr plays in Meta's ecosystem, how to describe it in sales and marketing, and what is already built so the product is Meta Business Partner ready.
Wappr's role: WhatsApp Tech Provider
Wappr is a WhatsApp Tech Provider: a technology company that builds a platform other businesses use to send and receive WhatsApp messages on their own WhatsApp Business Accounts. Each tenant connects their own WABA through embedded signup, and Meta bills that tenant directly for conversations. Wappr charges for the software.
| Role | What it means | Applies to Wappr |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud API user | A business messaging its own customers from its own WABA. | No — Wappr is not the end business. |
| Tech Provider | Builds software that other businesses use on their own WABAs. | Yes — this is Wappr's role today. |
| Meta Business Partner | Badged, directory-listed partner. Application-based, on top of Tech Provider. | Target — the product is built to qualify. |
| Solution Partner | Meta bills the partner for tenants' conversations; the partner resells messaging. | Optional later — no code rewrite needed. |
How to describe Wappr
- Correct: "Wappr is a WhatsApp Business Platform Tech Provider and multi-channel customer engagement platform."
- Correct: "Built on the official WhatsApp Cloud API."
- Avoid: "Official WhatsApp partner" or "Meta Business Partner" until the badge is granted.
- Avoid: "WhatsApp BSP" — Meta retired that term in favour of Tech Provider and Solution Partner.
- Never use the WhatsApp logo or wordmark in a way that implies endorsement; follow Meta's brand guidelines.
Meta Business Partner readiness
The Business Partner programme reviews the product, the business and the customer outcomes. Wappr is built so nothing structural has to change when you apply.
| Requirement | How Wappr covers it |
|---|---|
| Tenant self-onboarding without token sharing | Embedded signup in Settings → WhatsApp, tokens exchanged server-side and stored encrypted per tenant. |
| Multi-tenant isolation | Row-level security per workspace across every table. |
| Template lifecycle management | Two-stage review: internal review, then Meta submission and status sync. |
| Quality and policy safeguards | Opt-in capture, opt-out keywords, quality/tier tracking and rate-limit awareness per number. |
| Reliability evidence | Durable message queue with retries and DLQ, uptime status page and health dashboards. |
| Support operations | Ticketing, SLAs, announcements and audit logs in the platform admin console. |
| Data protection | GDPR export/erasure, data residency options, SSO, IP allow-list and audit retention. |
| Growth evidence | Revenue, usage and cohort analytics plus the partner/reseller portal. |
What is still on you, not the code
Business verification, App Review approval for advanced access, a public case study or two, published pricing, and a demonstrated customer base with support SLAs. These are business artefacts Meta asks for during the partner application.
If you later become a Solution Partner
- Solution Partner means Meta bills you for your tenants' conversations and you resell messaging with markup.
- Wappr already meters every conversation and message in usage events, prices Meta conversations per country, and supports markup and usage-based add-ons in billing.
- The reseller and revenue-share portal already exists, so switching the billing relationship is a configuration and commercial change, not a rebuild.
Recommended sequence
- 1Complete Meta Business verification and domain verification.
- 2Submit App Review for whatsapp_business_messaging, whatsapp_business_management and business_management.
- 3Onboard real tenants through embedded signup and gather usage, uptime and support evidence.
- 4Publish pricing, privacy policy, terms and data deletion URLs.
- 5Apply to the Meta Business Partner programme with case studies and volume evidence.
- 6Evaluate Solution Partner status only if you want to own WhatsApp billing end to end.
